Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation: What You Should Know

Fat transfer breast augmentation is often searched alongside traditional implant-based augmentation, but it's a meaningfully different approach worth understanding before deciding which is right for you.

How It Works

Rather than using an implant, fat transfer augmentation removes fat from another area of the body via liposuction, processes it, and re-injects it into the breast to add volume — using the patient's own tissue rather than a synthetic implant.

How the Results Differ From Implants

Fat transfer typically achieves a more modest increase in size than implants, with a naturally soft feel, and requires having sufficient donor fat elsewhere on the body. It's generally not able to achieve the same magnitude of size increase that implants can, which is an important expectation to set from the outset.

Who Tends to Be a Good Candidate

  • Wanting a modest, natural-feeling increase in breast size rather than a dramatic change
  • Sufficient fat available at a donor site for liposuction
  • Interest in a procedure that also contours a secondary area at the same time
